“Queens of Egypt” Exhibit Opening Weekend + Lunch

  • National Geographic Museum 1145 17th Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20036 United States (map)

March is Women's History Month! This multisensory exhibition will bring you back in time some 3,500 years, to the 18th and 19th dynasties of ancient Egypt. Get to know such legendary queens as Nefertari, Nefertiti, Hatshepsut, and Cleopatra VII; see more than 300 prestigious objects, including monumental statues, sparkling jewelry, and impressive sarcophagi; and take a 3-D tour of one of the most well-preserved tombs in the Valley of the Queens. When Women Ruled the World! When it comes to women in power, we’ve come a long way...right? We'll look at a time in ancient history when women ruled the world. Often neglected in the history books, these women were considered exceptions to the rule, political pawns in a patriarchal society. But their power and influence is undeniable. Afterwards, we’ll grab lunch at a local woman-owned restaurant!
